In the magazine world, the September issue is traditionally the most coveted issue of the year. Which means, by extension, that the biggest stars usually land the most prestigious cover.

So it's extremely unusual for a magazine like Harper's Bazaar to choose a virtually unknown face as its Sepetember issue cover star. That is, of course, until you realise that the fresh faced 20-year-old Emma Ferrer is the granddaughter of screen legend, Audrey Hepburn. (Well, she's on the cover of the subscriber's edition. Lady Gaga is on the cover of the newstand option. But the subsciber's cover is the one aimed at the real fashion heads.)

Dressed in a minimalist black and white Lanvin gown in one cover version and a feathery Ralph Lauren jacket in another, Ferrer is clearly no stranger to channelling old school Hollywood charm.

In a photo spread that pays homage to Hepburn's role as Jo Stockton in the 'Funny Face', Ferrer dons a black turtleneck and skinny pants and wears her hair in a classic chignon - instantly transforming into a spitting image of her grandmother.

What makes the photoshoot all the more remarkable is the fact that it was shot by 23-year-old Michael Avedon, whose own grandfather, Richard Avedon, photographed Audrey Hepburn.

Right now, Ferrer is completing her college degree in the The Florence Academy of Art and has no plans of getting into acting. But like her grandmother, she has studied ballet. When asked what asked to recall the earliest memory of Hepburn, she told Bazaar:

"I remember seeing a photo of her jumping on a trampoline-I believe this was before I understood that she was famous. But I remember thinking that she looked like a friend I wish I could have had."

"I knew her image, of course, and that I happened to be, by pure chance, related to her. But as a child I couldn't really relate to Audrey Hepburn, the actress. To me, she was family."

Surprisingly, Ferrer hasn't inherited many of Hepburn's iconic fashion items. In fact, the only hand-me-down in her posession is her grandmother's cashmere turtlenecks, which she "adores and wears all throughout the winter". That, and "a white antique stuffed teddy bear."

Another interesting reveal? She hasn't seen all of her grandmother's films.  "Honestly, I haven't seen all of her movies. When I watched Breakfast at Tiffany's, I enjoyed it the same way any young girl would. I've seen My Fair Lady and Roman Holiday, but I suppose my favorite is Funny Face."

This might explain her likeness to Hepburn in the photoshoot after all.

And here's a little video behind the scenes of Harper's other big September shoot ...
