Bendon is poised to reveal plans to keep abreast of the international lingerie market by working with superstar designer Stella McCartney.

The British designer and daughter of Beatle Sir Paul will launch her first lingerie line under licence with the New Zealand company Bendon.

"Lingerie is an obsession of mine. I have been inspired by it for many, many years," she told WWD newspaper.

She described the range as "naturally sexy, confident and modern".

But it won't come cheap. Prices will range from about $90 for knickers to $580 for chemises.

Bendon's Melbourne public relations company, Style Counsel, said the company would make an announcement today.

It could not confirm McCartney's role designing a new range of unmentionables.

Bendon has been producing supermodel Elle Macpherson's lingerie line since 1990.

WWD reported the new line would be sold at Stella McCartney stores and at Bendon stores in New Zealand and Australia.
