Carolyn Enting has the lowdown on Air New Zealand Fashion Week Day Three.
WHAT'S HOT: Pamela Anderson who turned up to her press conference wearing nothing and I really mean nothing but a hot pink sarong that she had to hold up throughout the press conference and later tied at the neck for official photos. She joked: "This dress I'm wearing is a scarf for next season."
WHAT'S NOT: Pamela Anderson's last-minute cancellation of her appearance at Lower Hutt designer Adrian Hailwood's show. Hailwood had designed a dress especially for the blonde beauty after he received her measurements a week ago. Earlier in the day Anderson got an advance preview of the range and snaffled up several pieces much to the delight of Hailwood.
QUOTES OF THE DAY: Pamela Anderson, who flew into New Zealand yesterday, after receiving her first hongi (from former NZ Sevens captain Karl Te Nana): "That was strangely erotic."
What she likes to wear: "I would rather be naked than wearing a bikini, it depends on the bikini."
On animal rights: "I think anything with a heartbeat should be respected and I don't think they should be made into clothing."
Environmental stance: "I think being vegetarian is the way to go. It's better than driving a hybrid car. One of the leading causes of global warming is factory farming."
On NZ: "I could live here, it's kind of like Canada."
On her fashion range A*Muse, designed by Richie Rich, on the catwalk today: "It's all about having fun, saving the world, doing good things and being pink and glittery, and also a bit political."
FASHION EMERGENCY: A model fell twice in Trelise Cooper's second show on Wednesday night after slipping in her platform shoes. Picking herself up, she turned and bowed, took two more steps, and splat! Trelise Cooper was in the wings and on hand to help her up. They hugged and the model bravely walked back out again, with Trelise supporting her, for the finale.
CELEBRITY FRONT ROW: MTV Asia's Denise Keller (Starfish and Adrian Hailwood); Green Party co-leader Metiria Turei (Starfish and MiroModa); Keisha Castle-Hughes for Habitat for Humanity's "Nail It With Love" house build; NZ's Next Top Model's Sara Tetro; and TV personality Miriama Smith.
ON THE CATWALK TODAY: Stitch Ministry, Michelle Yvette, Trelise Cooper Kids, Federation, A*Muse by Richie Rich featuring Pamela Anderson, Karen Walker and Huffer.
WHO'S SHOWING TOMORROW: Zambesi delves into its archives with a retrospective fashion show to celebrate its 30th year in the business.
