Fashionistas and bloggers can't decide if Nicole Kidman's bust out appearance at the Country Music Awards was a fashion hit or miss.
Kidman was expected to take a backseat to husband Keith Urban at the Country Music Awards in Nashville on Wednesday, but she caused a stir on the red carpet in a fuchsia embroidered L'Wren Scott dress that pushed her into Dolly Parton territory.
America's InStyle magazine gave her the thumbs up, stamping the 42-year-old redhead with its fashion pick of the day prize.
"Nicole Kidman accentuated her famous red hair with a vibrant pink gown and colour-clashing jewellery," InStyle raved.
In New Jersey, not a known bastion of fashion taste, its leading newspaper, the Star-Ledger, gave Kidman's look a "fail" grade and questioned if the Australian Oscar winner picked up the frock at a Nashville second-hand store.
"Just because you're now living in Nashville doesn't mean you have to shop there," the paper critiqued.
"What consignment shop did Nicole Kidman dig this sparkly hot pink retreat out of? Fail."
Across the Atlantic in London the Daily Mail suggested Kidman benefited from "extra help" in the lingerie department.
"Slender Nicole looked in danger of spilling out of her gorgeous magenta dress which hugged her figure, and showcased her stunning rarely seen curves," the Daily Mail reported.
"Clearly the actress who is well known for her slim figure had enlisted some extra help in the lingerie department."
One of America's top political blogs, The Huffington Post, veered away from debating the pros and cons of the Obama administration to quiz viewers about Kidman's curves.
A Huffington Post online poll asked if Kidman looked "fantastic" or "inappropriate".
An overwhelming majority, 71 per cent, gave Kidman's decision to "shed her often demure look with a daring pink dress" the thumbs up, with only 28.7 per cent describing her as inappropriate.
"The three of them look excellent," one Huffington Post Kidman fan wrote.

I have teeny tiny boobs, and if I stick plastic push ups in my bra i get that 'up and far apart' look too! The bottom of her bra is loaded with stuffing for sure. Now that I've seen this picture I'll never do that again - I swear. Plus with all that false advertising, its a bit disapointing when you unwrap the gift.
Who has boobs going up that high, look dreadful, have to be fake!
Whats the point of this discussion. I,ll keep my nose out of it
Look good I live poink on red heads- I wish she would give up the LIP plumping-up though. She doesnt suit a trout pout
@me #16 - Are you kidding?!? Those boobs are fake, fake, fake! I have small boobs and they will never look like that, no matter how high you push them up. Real boobs have normal looking cleavage when you push them up and not a huge gap between them. If it looks like you have two balloons of liquid on your chest just under your skin, it's because you do! I agree with Arthur #11, she needs a refund, b/c she can afford to get a much better boob job.
I personally don't like the way fake boobs look (out of clothes), but if SHE likes the way they look, that's all that counts. And, other than the boobs, I think she looks FABULOUS!!!
She's small chested and they're pushed up - you people are nuts!! Give it a rest and if you look back at all the pictures - her lips are the same - maybe a little "plumping gloss" and the red - but there's nothing freakish here. Glad I get to "photoshop" my xmas pictures before I send them out - but I don't really have friends like most of you!! Thank goodness.
If she is happy with the way she dressed then thats all that matters. we spend far too much time being critical of each other instead of being positive. you look good to me darl keep on doing what your doing to put the smile on your dial.........

How can we judge Nicole Kidman for wearing what I would call quite a conservative dress, when there are other stars out there who wear ten times worse and ten times more revealing outfits...
