Burberry is to stream its London Fashion Week show in 3D.
Chief creative officer of the brand Christopher Bailey announced the plans this morning, revealing the spectacle will be beamed to "customised screening spaces" in Tokyo, Paris, Dubai and New York. Fashion editors and other VIPs will gather in the areas, designed by Christopher, later this month, when the show hits the London runway.
"We are very excited to announce that we are hosting the first ever truly global fashion show... 3D technology will bring our global audience into the London show space allowing them to see the colours and fabrics, to hear the music and to be a part of that moment when it all finally comes together," Christopher told WWD.
People in Los Angeles will also have the opportunity to watch the show, but several hours after it has taken place due to differences in time. Fans of the fashion house will be able to watch it live by logging on to live.burberry.com, although the show will only be available in 2D.
"This unprecedented event will enable people to experience the energy and atmosphere of this event from around the world," Christopher said.
Also included in the streaming will be interviews with people as they arrive on the red carpet and scenes recorded back stage.
