Dita Von Teese says no to denim
Dita Von Teese finds jeans wholly "unappealing".
The burlesque star is famed for her 50s-inspired aesthetic, which includes dyed black hair and bright red lips. She has previously said she only wears trousers when she is going to the gym, and has now revealed she has no intention of ever dressing down in denim.
"I hate that 'I don't want anyone to think I care but look at me in my carefully-planned dishevelled look' thing! I don't actually spend hours getting ready on a day-to-day basis, and I'm certainly not about spending a fortune on or making the effort with something as unappealing to me as jeans," she said. "I look silly in jeans."
The 37-year-old finds it ridiculous when people say they were jeans because they are quick and "easy". She insists the clothing she wears is much simpler to put on, and also makes her look more ladylike.
"Of course I have days off, and I do like to be physically comfortable. I don't know why everyone thinks jeans are so easy and comfy... I can get dressed more quickly and comfortably - not to mention chicly - in a pretty 50s-era cotton day dress with a single zip up the back," she told the British edition of OK! magazine. "With jeans you have to squeeze into them, button, zip, et cetera then you have to find a shirt to wear with it, and finally some silly socks and trainers! I grab one of my vintage dresses, one quick zip up the back, and I slip on a pair of ballet flats or easy heels, and voila, I look nice and I got dressed quickly and easily and I'm off!"
