Annah Stretton, who is known for her shock tactics at fashion shows, will put on her first solo show at Australian Fashion Week in May.
Stretton's Summer 10/11 collection will be titled 'Stop The Slaughter' and is aimed at raising awareness about inhumane practices in the pork and poultry industries.
“To create a collection that conveys a message is a first for me”, Stretton said.
“For so many years I have designed collections around a visual theme that is of some interest or intrigue, but this time things are different, It’s a message that is of huge importance to me.”
“Stop The Slaughter is possibly one of the most important collections that I have ever created, while it’s on the runway I also want to truly bring the plight of these innocent birds and animals to attention, giving these animals back their dignity that has been stripped away by cruel and inhumane farming practices.”
Stylist Karen Inderbitzen-Waller, hair director Richard Kavanaugh and make-up director Phoenix Renata will help Stretton to create her vision for the show.
For her 2009 show at New Zealand Fashion Week Stretton sent a topless model painted gold down the runway for the finale.
