It's our version of East meets West – the Far East meeting the South Pacific.

With its white floral motif, the red parasol slung across model Nicole Peregrino's bare shoulder gave an Asian twist to designer Vanessa Roscoe's prizewinning entry at last night's Westfield Style Pasifika awards.

More than 7000 people turned out for the 17th annual fashion, music and dance spectacular at Auckland's Vector Arena.

The showcase of Pasifika style celebrates emerging designers and models.

The 31-year-old from South Auckland won the Resene Asia Pasifika category with her creative fusion of Asian and Pacific influences that Style Pasifika producer and artistic director Stan Wolfgramm said blew the judges away.

"It has a real Pacific flavour but the colours and shapes are Asian. It's innovative and really that's what the judges look for."

Auckland's Sandra Tupu was judged both supreme winner and overall runner-up.
