Men may steer clear of women's handbags, but their wardrobes are a different story.
Columnist Nick Scott says he takes a keen interest in his fiancée's quirky style, and knows others who love it when their partners stand out from the crowd.
Men are becoming more appreciative observers of female style, and although Lady Gaga's latest outfits are a bit over the top for most, it seems that bolder is better.
For fashion PR consultant Paul Blomfield, there is one clear issue Kiwi women need to address.
"I've travelled the world with fashion designers and we're known as a nation of black wearers," he said.
Perhaps women believe black is slimming or they're influenced by the All Black's jersey but whatever the reason, black is a default mechanism, Blomfield said.
"It's time women got out of black. It's all about colour for me."
So what do men think of the way Kiwi women dress?
