Tom Ford thinks all women should own a pair of Spanx.

The fashion designer is all for women taking short cuts if it helps them feel good about themselves.

He's advised ladies across the globe to try out body-shaping underwear as it often improves the way clothes look.

"Some full-figured women feel they need to hide their bodies. I say accentuate your bust and hips; curves are beautiful. Have a full length mirror so you can ask yourself, 'Do I like the way I look?' If you're petite ask, 'Is this cutting me in half?' Also, invest in Spanx! With a great undergarment, clothes will drape well," he said.

Ford released a make-up collection this year, something he's wanted to do for a long time.

He loves the way cosmetics can quickly transform women and has discussed his top looks for this season.

"I like a dramatic, smoky eye," he told InStyle. "Rim it with a darker shade, then apply lighter shades on the lid and blend as you move up. The key is to mix smoky tones in, so it doesn't look too 60s."
