Betsey Johnson is launching a new line.
The designer plans to sell an affordable range of ready to wear dresses in the hope of rectifying her cash flow problems.
Johnson had a well-publicised bankruptcy case in April this year that resulted in the closure of the majority of her stores.
The flamboyant designer's new offerings will launch in stores and boutiques next spring.
"[They will be] solid and printed, sexy, flowing dresses," Johnson explained.
The collection will be in collaboration with The Levy Group design director Suzi Chin.
Eccentric Johnson, who turns 70 this week, shows no sign of slowing down despite her age. She will apparently showcase her new range during London Fashion Week in September.
"We are pleased to be working with Betsey on her new dress collection," Levy Group president, Donald Levy, told WWD.
"It was a natural progression to continue into another category."
