A 17-year-old Parisian has won France's Elite Model Look contest, putting herself on the fast-track to catwalk success.

Marilhea, a 181cm tall brunette from central Paris, was named the winner ahead of 11 other contestants at a glitzy ceremony in Paris this morning.

She describes herself as a typical teenager and loves to spend time shopping, hanging out with friends and reading fashion magazines.

Winning the contest now means she has a good chance of ending up in those magazines - the Elite Model Look search is one of the most prestigious competitions in the fashion world. Supermodels Cindy Crawford, Stephanie Seymour and Gisele Bundchen are among those 'discovered' by Elite Model contests.
