Celeb fashion: Triumph and terror
The Best - Helen Mirren in Escada, Palm Springs Film Fest: She’s 67 and still rocking form-fitting Escada. Bow down to the guru of age-approp, figure-flattering dressing.
The Good - Emma Stone in Lanvin, the Gangster Squad Premiere: Emma’s the first star to don a pre-fall look, and this woven silk dress skims her figure perfectly. That said, we can’t decide if we love the also-Lanvin accessories or just find them too much. Thoughts?
The Good - Kerry Washington in J. Mendel, Django Unchained premiere, Berlin: The Scandal star is having a good fashion run on this promo tour, and this dress is tangy and fun yet not cloying. As an aside though, she’s standing in the middle of a German winter, how freezing must she be?
The Good - Rosamund Pike in Erdem, Jack Reacher press conference, Japan: We weren’t convinced by her performance in Jack Reacher – she seemed to be in a perpetual state of terror – but her stylist did a good job with her promo trail looks. This dress manages to somehow make a single sleeve look good, and those Elie Saab heels are our favourite of the season.
The Good - Emily Blunt in Emilio Pucci, National Board Of Review Awards, New York: It’s minimalist, elegant and she pulls off the cut-outs without looking trashy.
The Worst - Jennifer Lawrence in Valentino Couture, The People’s Choice Awards: She's amazing, but this looks like something a Texan woman that still insists on wearing her 80s wardrobe would pull out of her closet for an Oil Barons' ball.
The Bad - Coco Rocha in Mugler, panel for new show The Face: It's a touch extra in Star Trek and looks mighty uncomfortable.
The Bad - Daisy Lowe at Tommy Hilfiger Esquire Bash, London: This isn’t smack us across the face offensive, but it looks messy and Nineties throwback.
The Bad - Omarosa at Celebrity Apprentice press conference: At first look this is just a meh dress until, woah, it hits you that those are pants. Tight capri jumpsuits should not exist.
The Bad - Famke Janssen at the National Board of Review dinner, New York: The Taken actress looks amazing at 48, but this looks a little too apparition in a period horror film for us. And that length? Midi is tough.
