Best and worst dressed of the week
The Best - Jason Wu and Thom Browne bankrolled majorly when Michelle Obama decided to step out for the first day of her second term as FLOTUS wearing their designs. Jason Wu twetted "#inshock" when he saw her in his dress, but his real thought was probably "#kaching".
The Good - Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon is one of our fave fashion stars because she takes risks. Here she wears a cheapie H&M jacket with an Aqua bodice and matching digital capris (us mere mortals would probably look better with the pants paired with a black top)
The Good - Eva Longoria stepped out twice in honour of Barack Obama's inauguration this week. For the Latino Ball she wore a subtle but striking peach Vivienne Westwood Couture gown (which is almost a 10, bar the slightly weird bunching around the middle). And for the ceremony she paired a Bally coat with all black accessories. First class on the Air Force One for her!
The Good - American Horror Story actress Kate Mara wore a bright yellow Christian Dior Spring 2013 dress to the House Of Cards premiere. And while asymmetrical hems normally make us want to run up behind the wearer and rip the rest off, we think this works: mostly because of the ferociously good accessorising. That's a Plukka necklace, a Nancy Gonzalez clutch and the slingbacks are Giuseppe Zanotti.
The Good - She's a supermodel, Mrs John Legend, a food blogger and surprisingly hilarious, and so we can't hate Chrissy Teigen, even though she always looks impossibly good. Here she is rocking a persimmon coloured gown at one of the many inaugural week events she attended. Our fave of her tweets from the weekend? "'That looks like homeland' 'that looks like parks and rec' - basically all my thoughts."
The Worst - Evan Rachel Wood is pregnant, yes, but that doesn't excuse not washing your hair, wearing Ronald McDonald's work boots and your dad's old suit. Even Shia LaBeouf looks a bit skeezed out.
The Bad - We love Joanna Lumley, and the UK's National Television Awards do too, as they bestowed her with a Special Recognition Award this week. All this said, this outfit 100 per cent does not work. Any of the elements on their own are okay, but all-together? Overcooked.
The Bad - This Michael Kors getup isn't as bad as the high-vis orange pants we once wore to a house party, which our friend reminded us of in an unkind analogue snaps Facebook upload. That said, Kerry Washington's look is too itchy school uniform for us.
The Bad - Robert Redford wasn't happy about Paris Hilton attending Sundance. "She and her hard-partying, swag-grabbing cohorts have made the festival not much fun," he said. Ooh, snap. But we're glad she was there, otherwise we'd never have seen this beaut of an outfit and we'd never have known what it would look like if a zebra mated with a Columbus monkey.
The Bad - Serious question: has someone combined Adam Sandler and Voldemort's wardrobe to hijack 58-year-old Denzel Washington's everlasting hotness?
