Have trouble getting ready in the morning? Spare a thought for Nicki Minaj, who hates having to hurry when putting her elaborate outfits together.

"It's something that I have a lot of fun with. It does get a bit nerve-wracking when I have to be out and on time for certain stuff," she told British magazine Look.

Minaj is currently appearing on the judging panel of TV show American Idol, usually in her trademark colourful dresses and wigs. She claimed the way she dresses also helps free her from everyday routine.

"It brings confidence and you don't have to be sexy to do it. It's liberating, I would feel totally trapped if I had to look the same every day."

The singer said she dreams up many of her outfits. "To me the one way that I can relive my fantasies every day is by changing my outward appearance."
