The stars of most fashion advertisements are young, perfect pouting models, but Karen Walker's latest eyewear campaign is a little bit different.

The New Zealand designer has chosen a group of women between the ages of 65 and 92 to model in her summer 2013 eyewear adverts.

The women - Joyce Carpati, Linda Rodin, Lynn Dell and Ilona Royce Smithkin - shot to fame after they appeared in photographer Ari Seth's Advanced Style blog, which celebrates over 50s style.

Walker said she was inspired by the older womens' zest for life.

"What I've always loved about Ari's images, and his ladies, is the sense of looking to the future rather than the past. There's an optimism and excitement for the moment in his women that I applaud."

Do you think it's refreshing to see a celebration of style at any age, or do you think it's a fad?
