Cannes red carpet: Day three
THE GORGEOUS BUT COULD BE BETTER: Much like amateur golfers have a handicap, I think designers should have one too - when they're dressing a ped like me, that could be like a 36, and when working with a supe' like Doutzen Kroes, they're working with a 0. As, while there's no doubting Doutzen looks smoking hot in this Atelier Versace gown, the colour seems to wash her out a little, and I don't think floppy should ever be a term that can apply to cleavage.
THE GOOD, JUST: Eva Longoria takes a leaf out of J-Lo's book, wearing a form-fitting, bedazzled Zuhair Murad gown. I like it from the back, but from the front it's like poor petite Eva is being swallowed up by embellishments (on the runway, the lining was lighter, making the gown a touch more sheer, and therefore a lot less heavy).
THE NOT QUITE: I love the idea behind Berenice Bejo's look - which is basically pop an Alexis Mabille bridal gown on and then un-big day it up with a navy blazer. But I think the execution's a bit lacking, mostly because the blazer falls just a touch too low.
THE MEH: G.I. Joe Retaliation actress Elodie Yung is about as beautiful as a human being can be, but I'm not liking how much it's looking like she's wearing aggressively platformed boots here, and the dress is a little too Mary Kate Olsen.
THE I'M NOT SURE: A) I'm sick of this Dior dress - everyone seems to have worn it in some colour or another. B) Les Mis star Samantha Barks is so gorgeous, and usually totally rocks a minimalist style, but is this just dreary? Or is it actually kind of wonderfully elegant? My brain can't decide.
THE GOOD: French actress Sara Forestier chose a double-layered dress by Giambattista Valli Couture for the Le Passe premiere. I usually dislike dresses that give the appearance of massive gut growths, but I actually like this. Love the red shoes, although the hair could've done with a 'zhush'.
THE JUST PLAIN CRAY: I don't know who this woman is, or who made this contraption, but she deserves a special mention for A) bringing the crazy and b) just being able to get up those stairs.
