Cannes fashion: Days four & five
DAY FOUR: I love this fuchsia lip on Jennifer Lawrence (although, a more subtle eye might have been nice), but can they find her some different-looking Dior dresses? I'm getting major deja. Let's hope she brings the glam for her big premiere later in the week.
DAY FOUR: 'Accidental' jewel flash aside, I actually like this Versace gown on Eva. The colour works wonderfully against her skin and her curls are impossibly bouncy. That said, the belt is a touch 'title fight' for my liking.
DAY FOUR: Doutzen Kroes' Calvin Klein dress looks beautiful from behind - and I think she's one of the few people that can actually pull off this season's slick side part - but from the front it kind of gives the impression of a hospital gown (and are those flatforms? *shudder*).
DAY FOUR & FIVE: To the left Jane Fonda looks amazing, yes, but this Versace dress is a little too Star Trek: The Vegas Generation for me. That said, the 75-year-old redeemed everything on day five, wearing a beautiful - less dated-and-yet-futuristic-at-the-same-time - pink gown.
DAY FOUR: I really love this Zuhair Murad gown on Cheryl Cole. Yes, it's a style of gown we often see on the red carpet, but who cares? The colour's amazing on her, her makeup and hair is beautiful and it fits perfectly. What more could you want.
DAY FIVE: Nicole Kidman wore her favourite designer L'Wren Scott for her second Cannes appearance, and while Keith's clearly a fan and the almost tribal print dress is gorgeous, I'm not a fan of a) the double cuffs b) the slightly heavy makeup and c) the barrettes.
DAY FIVE: I really liked this wacky Marchesa feather and embroidery gown on the runway, but find it works less well on Jessica Biel - mostly because her serpent necklace competes too much with the dress, and I really don't think a cream pointy heel works here.
DAY FIVE: Carey Mulligan knows how to work a minimalist look, yes. This Vionnet dress is stunning, yes. Is her whole no-jewels, no-blusher, hair straight back stance just starting to make her look like a bored teenager on the red carpet? I fear so.
DAY FIVE: Bollywood's Aishwarya Rai wore an Elie Saab Couture lace embroidered gown (which was modified slightly from the runway to give her arms a bit of coverage) that I actually found quite underwhelming. On the runway, the detailing around the collarbone was the 'wow' detail of this dress, and I think an up-do would have done wonders for Ash here.
