Friday fashion fix: Designer interiors
Mondegreen: While not strictly a designer collab, from its beginning three years ago, local online store Mondegreen offered homewares and fashion together, curated to give a sense of one brand. The Summer 13/14 fashion range that's soon to drop is called ‘Fearless in the Jungle,’ (Sunseeker cami and Motmot skirt pictured) but you can choose from lots of jungle and animal-themed homewares on the site right now. OUR PICK: Jonathan Adler ‘Garden of Eden’ Salt and Pepper Shaker, $55 (was $99).
WORLD for David Moreland: A WORLD customer, lighting and furniture designer, David Moreland struck up a conversation with the designers and that conversation grew into this collaboration. ‘Neonwood’ is a two-piece furniture collection featuring a single side table available in a variety of colours and a shelving unit which can stand tall or lie on its side (P.O.A). The ‘Plutonium’ dress pictured is from the Lookbook for WORLD’s S/S 2014 Collection "Heavy Metal," due to launch to retail in August.
Karen Walker Home for Myer: Inspired by Karen Walker prints as seen on the New York Fashion Week runway, these three different bedwear designs are currently available from Australian department store Myer, with new designs to be released later this month. This one, ‘Ivy’ is derived from the designer’s popular ‘Seamonsters’ collection, sold here for Summer ’12. A Queen duvet cover costs about $150. Myer doesn’t deliver outside Australia, but that’s what friends across the Tasman are for, right?
Trelise Cooper at Home from Ezibuy: There are 63 different pieces in this romantic collection, and many of them are on sale at the moment as there's a new delivery due on July 24. Pictured is the Toile and Trouble/Striped Dreams sheeting set - the Double is currently reduced from $139.99 to $97.99 (fashion pictured is from Trelise Cooper Winter 2013).
Douglas and Bec for Kate Sylvester: Launched late last year, the 10-piece occasional lighting, furniture and homeware collaboration between Kate Sylvester and boutique furniture design business Douglas + Bec includes this beautiful ceramic swan ($135). Apparently The Black Swan is very dear to Kate’s heart: “every evening a flock of beautiful black swans fly in perfect formation over her home.” The designer’s 2009 winter collection, too, was inspired by- and called ‘Black Swan’ - what you see here is a frame from the accompanying video.

You know when you want to buy something, but don't feel you can justify getting anything new for your wardrobe? Well you can almost scratch that itch with something beautiful for your home.
Even better, fashion designers often work cooperatively with home brands to release custom lines. Check out how you can bring a little Karen, Kate or Trelise (Walker, Sylvester and Cooper that is) into your life, and beyond your wardrobe.
