If there was any question about whether Miley Cyrus had retained any of her good-girl Hannah Montana roots, her latest photoshoot provides a definitive answer.

With her edgy hair cut, racy music video and increasingly risque outfits, she is clearly keen to put her alter ego well and truly behind her.

The 20 year-old is captured in several compromising positions in the images shot by infamous fashion photographer, Terry Richardson.

In one photo Miley blows a puff of smoke from her scarlet mouth while loosely holding a cigarette in her hand.

Dressed casually in a white crop top and a pair of washed out jeans, Miley switches from sexy to all out x-rated by grabbing her crotch, complete with provocative facial expressions.

Perhaps the most daring photo sees the young singer with her feet against the wall, bum in the air and almost exposed in miniscule shorts, while resting her hands on the floor in an upside down version of her signature twerking move.

The photoshoot is reportedly for US Harper's Bazaar magazine.

In response to earlier criticism of her new tarted up image, Miley was quoted saying:

"I don't care if people don't like my haircut or think I dress too this way or my video's too provocative.

"If I knew what people were saying, I'd probably hate myself. I don't look at that kind of stuff."

Word of advice Miley, maybe you should be listening. Oh, and staying well clear of Terry Richardson, because that guy is unsavoury to say the least.

Bring back Party in the USA I say.
