If Rihanna says jelly shoes are back, it's worth hearing her out.

In 1996, the coolest shoe in every primary school in New Zealand was a pair of jelly shoes.

Whether you had the clear kind with glitter (absolute must-have) or a solid colour, they were the look. Sure, they came with unstoppable blisters, but that's the price of fashion.

The good news is that jelly shoes are back for 2017, courtesy of Rihanna. The Barbadian singer's new collection with Puma features three pairs of jelly slides, in pink, blue and grey.

Previous Fenty x Puma lines have included fluffy slides, and ones with a satin bow, and they've all been stand-outs. Priced at US$90 ($140 on Puma's NZ site), they're a lot more affordable than the heels in her line. Those go for over NZ$700.

While they're probably not for everyone, these jellies fit the sports luxe brand the Fenty x Puma line has become known for. They've got a sense of humour, which can only be a good thing.

If they're priced along the same lines as the other Fenty x Puma slides, the jelly slides will be around $128.

Keep an eye on the Puma site for their release. While you're waiting, why not enjoy Rihanna's Coachella outfit again? Can't go wrong with a sparkly bodysuit.
