The week's best & worst dressed

THE BEST: I try not to, but I almost always hate what Taylor Swift wears on the red carpet (she always looks a touch dated), but this Reem Acra dress is beautiful. And I'd like to imagine Wills is saying "Oh Taylor ... I do love the ... erm ... silver bits across your ... erm ... ches ... erm ... shoulders. Yes! Your shoulders". The waiter's face here reads: 'dang dude's got no game'.

THE GOOD: And here she is looking faboosh again ... this time in a Herve L. Leroux dress (a designer I also almost exclusively dislike). This whole look is grown up yet still contemporary (and sizzling). The Kevin Spacey-Al Pacino hybrid in the background is certainly feeling the love.

THE GREAT: Could Sessilee Lopez have chosen a lip colour that worked better with her Zac Posen gown? No. Not humanly possible. (PS: Sess is one of the best models on Instagram - she posts about junk food, Scandal and dogs a lot. In other words, three of my favourite things).

THE GOOD: First things first, I love Lizzy Caplan's hair - so shiny, so sleek and she really pulls off the retro fringe. I'm also feeling this Reem Acra dress on her - the two different houndstooth prints keep it interesting and the fit is very chic and sophisticated. She's a master of style.

THE GOOD: Kate Bosworth's disco-ball Fendi dress is very event appropriate considering she's in Vegas. The look wouldn't be even half as good without that bold raspberry lip, don't ya think? (PS: Her husband reminds me of those twins who try and do up and sell your houses. You know the ones, they look a bit like Harry Connick Jr and feature on Choice TV at crap time slots. Oh, except Bosworth's husband looks like a version of them that has never been outdoors).

THE GOOD: Most of you will only have seen her in a nasty beige jumpsuit - she's Taystee in Orange Is The New Black - but Danielle Brooks is actually a very fashionable dame and almost always looks A-grade on the red carpet. I love the cut of this simple black dress but what really wows are her gorgeous braids and flawless makeup (that purple shadow is my beauty pick of the week).

THE GOOD: Gorgeous model Anne V works an embossed Versace gown like a pro (oh wait, she is one). I love the strong contrast between red and black that's made palatable because of how natural her hair and makeup is.

THE BAD: I don't even understand what's going on here. Is Natalie King Cole paying homage to Playboy? Has she joined some sort of satanic sect? Or did she raid the Hunger Games' Capitol wardrobe? (Scratch that, those snobs in the Captiol would never wear such cheap looking diamantes).

THE BAD: Okay, nice things first ... I like Nicole Richie's necklace. But now to the Emilio Pucci dress. I think if any piece of clothing leads one to ponder the length/apparent disappearance/threatened appearance of someone's bum-crack, then it's a fashion fail. Also, taking off our it's-on-trend fashion googles, can we not all agree that these dresses are essentially glorified swimsuits? Or maybe a sports bra and a polyester sarong?

THE BAD: I'm not liking Jaimie Alexander's hair here - at all - the creased pants and superhero neckline on the Armani jumpsuit isn't exactly winning either ... but it's the shoe-pant relationship that's truly terrible: she's really elevating hoof-pants by adding extreme points to the mix. Devil hooves.

THE BAD: Elizabeth Banks was the fashion victor of the Hunger Games promo tour, although she did stumble at the last minute with this Jenny Packham two piece (am also not a fan of J-Law's look here - would her makeup artist stop making her look like a '90s glamour model?). Back to Banksy ... loving her lippie here, however, the voluminous trou' are way too genie for my liking.

THE BAD: Oh Charo. You're '62' - and that's her official age - and still rocking a half-up-half-down high pony. Brave. Also, I don't know what kind of hoists, pulleys and sucker-inners are going on underneath that dress (well, let's be honest, glorified leotard) but someone get NASA on the blower, as the capabilities of these things need to be studied.

This week Taylor Swift and the model brigade rule the red carpet, while odd cutout crimes are among the worst.

We haven't covered most of the looks from the AMAs this week, as we're all over them here.
