GLAM & EDGE: Lorde can own a shiny gold dress on the cover of a glossy as much as she can Patti-Smith-chic at The Grammys

Homegirl Lorde is the cover star of a top Canadian fashion mag this month. The glossy, named, erm, Fashion, styled the 17-year-old in Renaissance and Gothic-style pieces for her spread - which hits North American stands on April 14 - and apparently the musician's only 'rider' request was that Morrisey tunes be played throughout the entire shoot (no hundreds of white lilies and bowls of only yellow M&Ms for this Kiwi).

In between shows across Texas, Lorde took the time to talk her signature style with Fashion, revealing she's all about menswear.

"Jackets and pants are my power clothes. I agree with Annie Lennox when she said, "wearing a suit is like wearing armour." I wore pants and a shirt at the Grammys because it made me feel confident. I remember looking at early photos of Patti Smith when she was wearing those men's shirts she chopped off at the sleeve. That, to me, is the strongest look in the world."

(She's not wearing pants on their cover, but we do adore the Dolce & Gabbana dress she is wearing. The fact it's price on request, however, scares us somewhat).

Speaking of expensive, the singer then talked through some of her favourite brands ...

"A lot of my stage clothes are suits, jackets and trousers that come from designers like Philip Lim and Stella McCartney. I'm a fan of Céline and Comme Des Garçons too because the clothes don't look contrived and they don't look like they are trying too hard."
