Secret sale stores you need to know about
Sales are funny things. You head on in for a bargain but more often than not you spend your time sifting through tent-sized dresses, shoes only a midget would fit and makeup the colour of Barbie's disco dresses. But for lovers of a good sale there are a few great sites that only pick the sweetest stuff to offer up. I have a few favourites that I thought I'd share with you.
Once'It. You may have heard of it. The NZ sale site that you need an invite in order to join, sales start each day at midday and they email you to tell you what's selling. Each day is a new designer - think Twenty-seven Names, Cybele, Kathryn Wilson shoes, and a few cool homeware labels too.
Left Cybele skirt, $129 down from $399, and right Kingan Jones dress $95 down from $299. Sweet huh?
If you have a hankering for designer duds, then this is your site. The Outnet is Net-a-porter's sale site where all the end of season stuff goes to lie in wait for your sticky little hand. The prices are still pricey, but if you're looking to drop some dosh on a pair of Marni heels, you may as well get them for 70 per cent off right?
Marni heels $300 down from $800, this pouffy Vivienne Westwood Anglomania dress is $310 down from $900, another touch of Marni in this skirt which is $340 down from a whopping $1200, and these sweet ornate Tibi wedges are $225 down from $700. Worth a look, right?
BrandsExclusive. Which when you type it into the address bar (www.brandsexclusive.co.nz) it reads Brand Sex, which may or may not be one of those wierd subliminal marketing tools. The buyer is an Aussie-based dude called Garth Allen. He's worked with Dolce & Gabbana, Helmut Lang and Jil Sander amongst heaps of others, hence his sweet contacts when it comes to what's on offer.
These three Lioness dresses are $20 down from $90, and these Fiona McGuinnes heels (which I'm about to order so don't take the size 8) are $112, down from $226. Ca-raazy. The other day I spotted Maurie & Eve on there, Zimmermann, and they have Oakley sunglasses on there at the mo.
Because they're brand new to our shores, Brands Exclusive are letting me do a giveaway on the blog and I'm super excited. Because it's Marc Jacobs, yo! No bull, I've got this MJ pack to give to one of you and I'm more than a little jealous because that iPad case has been on my wishlist for ages now. This prize is worth more than $700 and includes what you see here - Marc Jacobs Long Continental Wallet, one of his sweet leather watches, the Stardust iPad case and the classic disc pendant necklace.
So how to enter? I wanna know about your sweetest-ever sale scores. Mine was my Dries van Noten heels I got for almost 80 per cent off. Amaze. Tell me all about it in the comments below, and may the best man be the new owner of a pile of shiny Marc Jacobs gear. Oh and entries via Twitter equal two times more.
