Spain's El Bulli, in Roses on the Costa Brava, retained the top prize for the fourth consecutive year, followed by English chef Heston Blumenthal's The Fat Duck at Bray for the third year in a row.
No New Zealand restaurants made it onto the list but two Sydney restaurants were named among the top 50 of the world at an awards ceremony in London.
Quay and Tetsuya's were both named in the S Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants.
Peter Gilmore's harbourside Quay restaurant was a new entry at number 46, while Tetsuya's was number 17 and also the winner of the best restaurant in Australasia.
