Just because it's the middle of winter doesn't mean we have to rug up and hide away.

Auckland isn't known as the city of sails for no reason. We're blessed to have enough beaches and rippling waters to keep those winter blues away.

What better way to enjoy our city than to cosy up with a hot meal and a heart-warming drink?

We at Stuff have pulled together five of the best Auckland eateries with a view.

Takapuna Beach Cafe offers tasty treats not just for people, but canines too.

Takapuna Beach Cafe - 22 The Promenade, Takapuna

Healthy eating is on the top of the menu at this quirky cafe - but not just for humans. The latest addition to the menu is Bone Appetit, a partnership with K9 Natural dog food which aims to keep our four-legged friends happy and healthy. For that reason we've put this on top of the list.

The human menu looks delicious, too. Not to mention the extensive views. Whether you've been running on all fours and need a rest, or if you're ready to cosy up with a hot latte, this cafe has something for everyone. There's a takeaway option too, perfect for grabbing a brew and a quick bite to eat.

Mudbrick Restaurant and Vineyard, Waiheke Island

All of the vineyards on Waiheke are unmissable, but it's probably no surprise to you that Mudbrick is in our top five. A popular spot for fairy-tale weddings, it takes the cake for any occasion.

You'll fall in love with the panoramic views of the gulf and islands - not to mention the wine list and mouth-watering menu.
