Top awards for beef and lamb dishes
Beef + Lamb New Zealand has celebrated the best of beef and lamb in the food service industry by awarding 162 excellence awards to restaurants around the country.
Five ambassador chefs have also been announced.
Rod Slater, marketing head at Beef + Lamb, describes it as a "highlight on our calendar that acknowledges incredibly talented chefs for their skills in showcasing the very best of New Zealand beef and lamb".
Any restaurant with beef and lamb on the menu can apply for the excellence award and if they meet the standard are awarded a gold plate which symbolises a high level of cookery, creativity and execution of beef and lamb. For the full list of awarded restaurants go to nzexcellenceawards.co.nz.
The five ambassador chefs are: Steve Beere from Mint Restaurant, Napier; Alistair Forster, Mahana Estate, Nelson; Scott Kennedy, Nero Restaurant, Nelson; Shaun Clouston, Logan Brown, Wellington; Daniel Hill, Pitches Store; Central Otago.
Each of the chefs treated guests to a specially designed beef and lamb canapé.
They will be involved in Beef + Lamb international marketing activities during the next year.
