Dunedin brewery creates pink beer for fashion week
Even beer has had a trendy makeover for this year's iD Dunedin fashion week, with a limited-edition pink brew from Emerson's Brewery making its debut on - and off - the runways at this week's event.
Bedecked in a stylish tartan print and with a distinctly pink hue, Emerson's Blurberry beer is made with blueberries, rosemary, lemon peel and coriander, its name an ironic nod both to its blueberry origins and as a reference to its fashion-conscious customer.
* Dunedin to get European fashion fix
* Kiwi classic Swanndri to hit fashion runway
* Raising a toast to NZ women in beer industry
The beer, made by Emerson's exclusively for iD Fashion Week, will be sold at the event's premiere shows - the International Emerging Designer Awards and iD fashion shows at the Dunedin Railway Station, as well as select locations around Dunedin including Emerson's Brewery, Madam Woo and Vault 21.
Emerson's sales and marketing manager Greg Menzies says the beer is "light and refreshing with hints of ginger" and will suit a refined palette.
"This is our first iD Fashion Week and we're proud to be associated with such an iconic Dunedin event," he says.
"We wanted to create a fashion statement that people could drink."
