Furry Friday: Cats in pursuit of rest
Cassey reclines with effortless style.
You know how the Inuit people supposedly have 50 words for snow? I reckon if cats could talk, the thing they'd have 50 words for is resting.
Because cats are the Masters of Rest. They're the Monarchs of Snooze, the High Priests of Chill, and the Chief Executives of Kicking Back. They employ dozens of styles and techniques and poses to achieve relaxation and, eventually, sleep.
And every time, they manage to look cool, glamorous, stunning. So scroll down and enjoy this collection of cats arranging themselves in all kinds of stylish ways in pursuit of rest. And remember, in this new format of Furry Friday, captions are under the pictures!
Please email me your own photos, or go to the Four Legs Good Facebook page and use the Upload Photo button. Help keep Furry Friday free of embarrassing mistakes by remembering to include your pet's name, and its sex if it's not obvious!

Maggie relaxes on the sunny Costa del Bin.
Benji has the sun cornered.
Buffy currently owns this route. You'll have to take a detour.
Amber's as floridly coloured as a rich carpet. And those eyes...
Plischke sleeps with conviction.
Shelby's face seems to have vanished but the thing he's doing with his paws is pretty cute.
Neve rocks both tummy and paws.
The gorgeous abdominal stylings of Rupert.
When I hear people say cats are la-di-da, this is the kind of photo I want to show them. Mac is utterly unpretentious.
Jackie didn't trek far for her after-dinner nap.
Sharon invites a tickle, if you dare.
Maggie oozes self-possession and confidence.
Abigail does her paper clip impression.
Millie arrived as a foster kitten - and never left.
I was wondering at Issie's suppleness when I noticed that her whole position is held by a single claw. Impressive!
A tucked-in dining chair is a classic refuge for a cat. Here's Finn, looking unhappy about being discovered.
Bentley's refuge is a suspiciously Bentley-shaped indentation in the couch.
Sharni and Sheba achieve peak cuteness.
Three years ago, Ray was an injured and timid stray. Now he's a healthy, happy boy.
Millie has a sun-groggy look about her.
Monty looks as though he's about to emerge from his state of rest.
Becky just needs a strip of couch-back for perfect comfort. RIP Becky.
Harry does "neighbourhood watch" the lazy way.
A classic move from the cat playbook: Maggie turns a pile of boxes into a day bed.
Smoo tucks herself in for a long-haul sleep.
You can't see them in this photo, but Tess has stunning blue-green eyes.
Henry gives a subtle signal that he's tiring of your conversation.
Daisy takes a pumpkin as a pillow. (Be honest: how many of you yawned when you saw Daisy?)
After all these sleepy pictures, it's time to stretch and shake it off. Eric leads the way.
