Inside Reese Witherspoon's home
Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth are selling their Los Angeles estate. The Spanish-style house has been listed for $US14 million ($NZ16.4 million), according to David Offer Fine Homes.
Consisting of two lots, the estate is tucked away at the end of a quiet cul de sac with a combined area of 1.3 acres.
The main residence is on the market for $10.5 million. But there is also the option to buy the adjacent property for $3.5 million.
Situated in the guard-gated community of Brentwood Circle, the home is made up of three neighbouring properties that Witherspoon purchased between 2003 and 2012.
The actress bought the first lot in 2003 when she was married to Ryan Phillippe, which she kept after their divorce in 2007. In 2009 she bought the house next door but pulled it down to make room for a bigger backyard.
The house has five bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. It also boasts a double-height entry with sweeping stairs, as well as formal living and dining rooms.
The listing describes a ''sensational master suite with a vaulted ceiling, fireplace, lavish marble bath, two very large fitted closets, and a separate gym or office''.
French doors open onto an extensive lawn, pool, spa and outdoor fireplace. For the kids, there is a sunken trampoline and children's playground.
Complementing the eat-in kitchen, there is also a vegetable garden.
In 2012 Witherspoon bought the house on the other side of hers, doubling her property size.
''Also available to be purchased separately is an adjacent 28,870 square foot (per assessor) parcel, which would bring the total lot size to over 1.3 acres,'' the listing says.
''This is a rare opportunity to purchase a custom home of great quality and distinctive design in an extraordinary Brentwood location.''
