10 amazing Auckland kitchens
PARNELL: Floor-to-ceiling glazing allows the owners of this
apartment to enjoy relaxing views of the inner Waitemata Harbour while preparing
WEST LYNN: Blue LED lights add a wow factor to the elegant monochrome
palette of this bungalow kitchen. The existing timber floor was sanded back and
WAIHEKE ISLAND: A full scullery, finished in white glass and stainless steel, houses all the appliances except the induction cooktop, which is set discreetly into the bench behind the kitchen island.
THREE LAMPS: This kitchen is part of a big room divided into three spaces and it was about making sure it wasn't 'lost'. The strong colour allows it to scream 'I'm here!'
SAINT MARYS BAY: A subtle palette of white, stainless steel and pale oak veneer gives this award-winning kitchen a light, airy feel.
ST HELIERS: Previously the servants’ quarters in a stately heritage home, this renovated kitchen had to wow all who walked through its doors and provide the
owners with something no one else had.
CASTOR BAY: The brief was for a tropical holiday feel. The result is a fun and whimsical kitchen with all the necessities.
HERNE BAY: A kitchen which is in full view from the home’s front door, and sits in a transitional space, must be a stand-out in every way. To achieve that in this home, Corboy created a design with a ‘smoky cigar lounge’ in mind.
MT EDEN: Renovating a period home requires research and sympathetic design. A country or contemporary kitchen would only have fought with the home's natural features, so Corboy went with a complementary art deco design.
REMUERA: Having attended one of Corboy’s design seminars, the owners of this 1980s Auckland home decided they wanted a kitchen with the ‘Mal factor’. Happy to put decisions about everything from the overall layout and design to the material and colour palettes in Corboy’s hands, they had just one constraint — it all needed to be completed within a tight, eight-week time frame. Ouch!
