11 mansions belonging to young celebrities
Most 20-somethings live in one of two places – at home with the folks, or in a flat, which has probably seen better days.
A fortunate few (mostly outside of Auckland) may have scrambled some funds together to put down a deposit on a home of their own, but it's unlikely to be in the style to which some young celebrities are accustomed.
Here we highlight the mansions of 11 young celebrities who are all under 30, as compiled by domain.com.au.
1. Jennifer Lawrence
The 25-year-old Hunger Games star isn't the first female celebrity to live in her Beverly Hills mansion, which she purchased last year for US$8.2 million ($12.08 million). Former owners include Ellen DeGeneres and, more recently, Jessica Simpson.
The enormous, five-bedroom home boasts a walk-in closet with plenty of room for Lawrence's Oscar awards, a strong courtyard, koi pond and in-ground pool.
2. Iggy Azalea
The Australian-born rapper owners a pretty fancy Mediterranean-style mansion in Tarzana, California.
Azalea is also not the first celebrity to own her home – she bought her estate from Selena Gomez for US$3.45 million ($5.06 million). The mansion comes with six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a basketball court, barbecue pit, spa, swimming pool and butler's pantry.
3. Justin Bieber
Where does Bieber live when in LA? He rents an enormous glass house.
The 21-year-old musician pays US$60,000 ($88,000) a month for the honour of living in the infamous Salad Spinner home designed by architect Ed Niles. (It is clear from the picture when the name originates.)
4. Taylor Swift
There is a lot of speculation about the properties Swift might own, but the Rhode Island beachfront mansion that we know belongs to the pop queen is certainly spectacular.
It is believed that Swift paid US$17 million ($24.9 million) in cash for the home where she hosts her infamous Fourth of July parties.
5. Liam Hemsworth
This 25-year-old Australian, who is starring as Kate Winslet's lover in The Dressmaker, owns an impressive ranch-style Malibu home, which cost him US$6.8 million ($9.98 million).
The 1950s residence has its own professional recording studio, a self-contained guest house, detached writing studio, and a concrete barn-gallery.
6. Lena Dunham
It was a classy, Brooklyn apartment that caught the eye of New York writer, director and actor Lena Dunham.
Dunham bought the apartment for US$4.8 million ($7.05 million) in 2014, with her musician boyfriend Jack Antonoff and their rescue dog, Lamby.
7. Miley Cyrus
The former Disney child star and current twerking wild child bought her equestrian ranch earlier this year, for US$5 million ($7.34 million).
Although it is situated in the Los Angeles Hidden Hills area, the property is more reminiscent of Cyrus' native Tennessee.
8. Kylie Jenner
Kylie was just 17 when she bought this five-bedroom mansion in Calabasas, California for US$2.7 million ($3.96 million).
The youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner empire, Jenner's new home is just around the corner from older sisters Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian.
9. Robert Pattison
The Twilight lead paid US$2.1765 million ($3.19 million) for this minimalist bachelor pad in the Hollywood Hills.
The hideout is a lot more toned down than the typical celebrity listing, but still comes with a landscaped pool area and plenty of grass.
10. Lady Gaga
No expense spared here - when you spend US$24 million ($35.2 million) on a Malibu property, you want to be sure it's impressive.
Lady Gaga's home doesn't disappoint. Aside from the mansion itself, there's a stable, horse-riding area, basketball free-throw machine and bowling alley.
11. Lauren Conrad
Reality TV star Lauren Conrad, who starred in The Hills, recently bought a vast Mediterranean-style mansion in the Pacific Palisades, with her new husband, William Tell.
Her house, which set her back US$4.4 million ($6.46 million) is nestled into the mountains so the couple can avoid the paparazzi. It comes complete with a spa, waterfall and tree house waterslide.
