At my place: Brokenwood Mysteries star Fern Sutherland's Sydney flat
Brokenwood Mysteries star Fern Sutherland lives in Woollahra, Sydney in a flat renowned for housing Kiwi actors trying to crack the Australian acting scene.
Sutherland, a former Aucklander who starred in The Almighty Johnsons and Go Girls, lives in the flat, known as Beaverbrook, with fellow Kiwi actor and former Shortland Street and McLeod's Daughters star Michelle Langstone.
They describe Beaverbrook as a "sacred Kiwi stronghold", because it has also been home to other Kiwi actors Jared Turner, Sara Wiseman, Craig Hall, Simon London and Antonia Prebble.
"Incidentally, if you're reading this guys please come get your mail," Sutherland, 28, says.

Describe your house in two sentences:
A kiwi fortress. Full of hopes and (mostly crushed) dreams and fears and dust.
Describe your style in three words:
Minimal, mix-n-match, practical.
Where is your home and who lives there with you:
Woollahra, Sydney. I live in an old apartment with my pal and actor chum Michelle Langstone. But we also live with the spirits of Kiwis that called this apartment home at various stages of their careers. Including Jared Turner, Sara Wiseman, Craig Hall, Simon London and Antonia Prebble. Incidentally, if you're reading this guys please come get your mail. Also, everyone stays here when they come over for work. The building is called "Beaverbrook" and Michelle and I are the current custodians of this sacred Kiwi stronghold that has been passed down through years of New Zealand actors working to establish themselves here.
First thing you do when you get home each day:
Reach for the wine.
Best new buy:
The steam mop that cost $1 because we have wooden floors and they get grubby as heck. Add some essential oil to the water, and whammo: clean and tranquil for the soul.
Proudest DIY moment:
Michelle assembled the Ikea beds by herself while drinking half a bottle of Grey Goose vodka. I'm both proud of her and deeply impressed. I was proud of myself for removing a Huntsman spider from the kitchen ceiling because it's a high stud and I'm five centimetres tall but everyone else was too beside themselves.
Favourite spot to relax:
Bondi Beach is just down the road and it's so nice. I love the coastal walkway but I also love to sit at the beach with a book.
Best kept secret about the area you live in:
The Cook and The Baker is a hole-in-the-wall café down the road which is owned by an ex-pat Kiwi couple. They have good coffee and delicious baked goods plus heaps of NZ bakery staples that make me feel happy to look at. Fat Freddy's Drop is obviously always blaring.
Favourite way of entertaining:
Connect the speaker to Spotify and open some wine. Perhaps some tarot readings.
Best kitchen tool:
The automatic drip coffee maker. I used to be a bodum or bust kinda gal but this thing makes delicious coffee and I love the gentle sound it makes when you switch it on (or it has a timer that you can set so it's waiting for you in the morning) and I love drinking from a pot like I'm in an American diner.
I can't live without:
My Macbook/iphone which is sad but also true. Also my copy of Meditations by Marcus Aurelius because life requires some navigating and it's good to have help. Especially from the O.G.
Favourite piece of furniture:
Old Brown has been here since the dawn of time apparently- and for some reason has a saddle bag from Peru hanging over the back of it.
Favourite artwork or family treasure:
All of my family treasures are safely stowed back in New Zealand.
Favourite household appliance:
The Nutribullet because I love the sound of things getting stuck in the blades momentarily and then resoundingly pulverised to mush. Also we make the best dips imaginable with that thing.
One thing I'd like to change around my house:
We hear other people knocking about in this building all the time so some insulation would be appreciated.
What's your signature dish:
A robust vege platter that Michelle and I create. It's so satisfying and we feel smug as hell eating all the health. So we wash it down with liquor.
How do you feel about unannounced guests:
I don't appreciate it. I like to see people on my own terms. Thanks.
Shoes on or off in your house:
Favourite/least favourite household chore:
Cleaning the shower curtain. I mean HOW do you keep the mould and grime from building up. It's impossible.
Ranunculus or peonies. I got some beauty ranunculus from the market the other day.
Favourite colour combination:
Olive green and duck egg blue.
