Dozens of Ford Capri enthusiasts from throughout New Zealand gathered in Bluff on Saturday to embark on a tour to Cape Reinga.
The Ford Capri Club is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the classic car, which has become an icon of the 1970s.
National club president Lindsay Lyons said the tour was an opportunity for people drawn to the sleek, stylish cars to share their enthusiasm.
"It's a really good chance to have a social gathering, especially seeing we don't usually get to do this sort of thing with our South Island members," he said.
Club member Peter Bevin flew to Invercargill from New Plymouth to take part in the event. He had to sell his Capri to get married years ago, but he was recently able to buy another Capri. "Now I've got the car and the wife," he said.
The trip is expected to take two weeks.
