New Zealand new car registrations totalled 5551 in April, down 12.8 per cent on March, but 13.6 per cent higher than a year earlier, Land Transport NZ said.
Used car registrations – generally imported used cars – totalled 8492 last month, 0.9 per cent down on the month before and 8.8 per cent down on a year ago.
New commercial vehicle registrations during the month were 1,973, down 18.7 per cent from March but up 15.8 per cent up on a year ago, the government agency said in a statement.
Toyota remained the top selling make with 821 new car sales, followed by Hyundai with 521, and Ford with 517.
