Nail art is the newest trend in gender reveals.

Move aside gender reveal parties - nail art is the newest way mums are announcing whether they're expecting a boy or a girl.

And the trend isn't just for those who know their baby's sex, as many mums are choosing designs to reflect that they're waiting for the surprise.

Instagram is full of examples of these #genderrevealnails, which range from the oh-so-subtle, to the more elaborate - complete with tiny baby bottles and dummies.

In a way, the idea is kind of a genius method of answering strangers when they ask those inevitable questions about baby's sex. Simply let your nails do the talking...

That said, if nails aren't really your thing, there's always cakes, burnoutsdrones, or hair dye.

Scroll on for examples of the nail art.
