THIS RING: Lorde's parents recently got engaged after 30 years together and this is the style of bling poet Sonja Yelich is now rocking. The piece, made up of four separate rings encrusted with diamonds and one enormous black diamond, was custom made by Kiwi jewellers Meadowlark, the 'Royals' singer's favourite brand. Apparently Lorde's papa got the idea for the piece after seeing his daughter wearing their rings, bracelets and nose clips everywhere and cold called their Auckland studio on her advice. Congrats!
THIS SADNESS: Our spirit animal Frostie the Goat, who needed a wheelchair to get around, has passed away. His carers at Edgar's Mission posted a long eulogy to the little one on their Facebook page and we cried, a lot.
THIS BODY WASH: This feels like a luxuriant spa product, but at only $19.90 it's a doable regular purchase. We mostly love the smell, as it's a natural rich rose scent (that doesn't smell at all old lady or fabric softener) and it makes our whole bathroom smell gorge'. We also adore how moisturising the creamy wash is - in fact, sometimes when we forget to take our face wash out of our gym bag and find ourselves in the shower with this beaut' only, we just wash our face with it: good as gold. Products that multitask become instant faves.
HIS ACTING BREADTH: Saul Berenson from Homeland is the same person as Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride?! 'My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die' ... now if only the Homeland writers could write in a similar line as a tribute to the greatest movie of all time, that would make us very happy. PS: Mandy Patinkin, 61, started his career in musical theatre and is a tenor ... is there ANYTHING this man can't do?
GISELE'S BUZZCUT: On seeing this edgy Balenciaga ad, the fashionable corners of the internet pulsed with excitement – had the most famous supermodel of them all taken the plunge and chopped off her infamous mane?! Well, despite the fact that Gisele actually looks incredible with a buzzcut (is there anything she can’t pull off?), it turns out the dramatic ‘do was most definitely temporary. As evidenced by an adorbs Instagram shot of the Brazilian babe and her daughter Vivian that she posted just after the ad’s release. Crisis averted.
THIS FACE MASK: We've been trying to strip our beauty cupboards of unnecessary chemicals, and while that's easy enough to do with moisturisers etc, it's a bit tricky when it comes to peels. That's why we were so stoked to find this fruit enzyme peel by Cosima, $85 at Oh Natural. The product contains a concentrated blend of fruit enzymes, as well as natural salicylic acid from Willow Bark (which works to soften keratin, loosening dry scaly skin and letting other ingredients penetrate more deeply). We use it once a week, and it really does tingle when applied - which just makes us think it's working. After about a month we've found that it's stripping our forehead of those nasty 'bumps' that aren't quite pimples but are still pesky. One top tip though: we say only use this at night, as our skin tends to be a bit 'flushed' just after we've applied it.
THIS DREAM JOB: Why did this not exist when we were little?! What job, you ask? Well only toy testing ... The Warehouse is seeking four new toy testers, who will be sent $200 worth of brand new toys each month and then asked to rate them. Pictured are the current testers - Casper, 10 from Porirua, Maya, 7, from Dunedin, Frances, 6, from Wellington and Jahkeal, 8, from Auckland. JEALOUS. Their feedback? Maya's top toy of 2013 was a Lego ice cream parlour: sounds ideal. Head to www.thewarehouse.co.nz/toytester for details on how to enter (entries close on July 15).
