Vet nurse Rebecca Watts and freezing worker Marc Davey, both 25, dove head-first into love when they met at a local pool. The pair married in Christchurch.

How did you meet? "I worked as a lifeguard at QE2 pool and Marc worked in the cafe there. One day I fainted into the pool and went to the cafe and Marc was like 'Hey are you the girl who fell in the pool?'. I was so embarrassed but it was a good start topic, plus he gave me discounted food [and it] was love from the start," says Rebecca.

Tell us about the proposal: "We had talked about it and I had even shown him the ring I wanted so [it] wasn't a shock when he asked. We were at home and I was sitting on the bed getting ready to go to sleep and Marc said 'I bet I can make you not sleepy' and I thought 'No way I'm so tired'. Then he got down on one knee and pulled the ring box out from under the bed. Needless to say I couldn't get to sleep for hours, I was so excited."

Location of wedding: The couple's ceremony was in the Ark at Gethsemane Gardens in Sumner and the reception was held at The George Hotel in Christchurch.

Describe your wedding day: "Perfect in every way!," says Rebecca. "Even with the bad weather it could not have gone any better, everyone had a great time and it was everything we ever dreamed of."

The dress: "My dress was the first thing I bought and the first and only dress I tried on was 'the one'. It was a Paloma Blanca dress that I bought from Tulle Bridal. The bridesmaid dresses I made to match mine."

The flowers: "I made the bouquets, button holes and corsages myself. All fake flowers and put them together with ribbon and tulle. I had pink and the bridesmaids had ivory."

Highlight of the wedding: "Finally holding each others hand at the end of the aisle. We were both so nervous up until then and as soon as we held each others hand we relaxed and just enjoyed every moment of our perfect day."

Was there any drama? "Not really apart from the weather on the day which was cloudy and rained on and off the whole day."

The honeymoon: "We went to Tahiti and stayed at the Intercontinental Resort Papeete which was amazing! We loved every minute of it, very relaxing and romantic."

Your photographer and favourite photo? "Dean Norrie from Star photographers, who was amazing. Love them all but probably the one of us on the beach [is our favourite]."
