Wellington couple Elizabeth Dewes, 25, and Conan Marriott, 26, married in a sun-filled ceremony in Whitemans Valley. They honeymooned in Rarotonga.

How did you meet? Conan met Liz through a mutual friend and after they got chatting "the rest was history".

Tell us about the proposal: Liz came home one afternoon and Conan was nowhere to be seen. The bedroom door was suspiciously closed. Liz cautiously opened it to find the words "Will you marry me?" spelt out in hundreds of little candies across the bed. Conan was down on one knee holding the ring. Amidst Liz's shock and excitement, she said yes, and the couple ate plenty of lollies that day.

Location of wedding: The wedding ceremony was held at Wallaceville Church in Whitemans Valley and the reception was held at Mac's Brewery overlooking Wellington's waterfront.

Describe your wedding day: "It was the happiest day, the sun was shining and it was incredible having our friends and family in one place at the same time and being able to celebrate such an exciting occasion with them" says Liz.

"The ceremony was short and sweet and held inside a small historic church. Outside the caterers were ready with refreshments to occupy the guests while we played in the sun and had photos taken. The fairy lights and all of our handmade table decorations created the perfect whimsical atmosphere at our reception. The speeches were very touching and definitely something to be cherished. After that, we all danced into the night."

The dress: All five dresses - the two wedding dresses and three bridesmaid dresses - were designed and made by Liz in the months leading up to the big day.

The flowers: The flowers were from Flowers Manuela on Cuba St, Wellington. "Manuela did such an amazing job. She really listened and understood exactly what we wanted and made the whole process of organising the flowers easy," says Liz.

Highlight of the wedding: "Too many to list," the couple say.

Was there any drama? Liz and Conan said there were "no dramas, just good times".

The honeymoon: "The honeymoon was enjoyed in the beautiful island of Rarotonga, where we spent our time snorkelling, scootering and exploring around the island," says Liz.

Your photographer and favourite photo? "We were very lucky to have two of our friends taking our photos for the wedding. They really captured the feel of the day and did an amazing job." Liz's favourite photo is of the bridal party jumping and Conan's is of them walking out of the church.
