Wellingtonians David Baker and Hayleigh Scott, both 25, shared their waterfront wedding with their two gorgeous daughters. And the scaffolder and stay-at-home mum's wedding was quintessentially Kiwi in that it was all thanks to the All Blacks' World Cup success.

How did you meet? "We met while watching fireworks in Wellington through a friend of mine and a friend of his who are together. We saw each other a few times through them before David asked me out. Being 16 and 17 we were just having fun, not knowing where our relationship would go, but we fell in love and had two gorgeous little girls."

Tell us about the proposal: "Having two kids and having been together for so long, we had joked about it - of course I wanted a ring - but we'd never really seriously talked about getting married. David is a big rugby fan and one night during the beginning of the Rugby World Cup he said to me, 'if the All Blacks win the World Cup I'm going to ask you to marry me'. And not really believing it, it became quite a joke so when they won we all laughed about it, but a few weeks later on our seventh anniversary David took me and our two little girls to my nana's house on the beachfront and proposed."

Location of wedding: "We got married at the Mana Cruising Club, I always wanted a beach wedding but not knowing what the weather would do, next to the water was the best option. It was lucky we hadn't planned the beach wedding, as we saw a bit of sun but the wind and clouds were definitely there. Dad's boat is at Mana Cruising Club and so I got to arrive on the boat, which was perfect.

Describe your wedding day: "Perfect, amazing, relaxing! Getting ready at my nana's beachfront property in Plimmerton was perfect, and having my two wee girls with me was too, as I wanted to be able to relax and know they would be fine. I had my nana and aunty there as well to help out with the kids, they spent the morning playing and getting ready with us while me and my amazing bridal party got pampered and we had our hair and makeup artists come to us. Mum spent the morning getting final touches done, joining us in time to have her makeup done, and then we all got ready and headed to the boat for a wine before the ceremony."

The dress: "I knew what style of dress I wanted as soon as I started looking. I fell in love with one and ordered exactly the style I wanted online. The dress was white mermaid style, and was fitted to just below the hips and had flowing layers."

The flowers: "We had Oriental lillies and roses. My amazing aunty did our flowers for us, I wanted simple but pretty and they were perfect, she spent so much time making sure the colours of the lillies and roses were exactly what I wanted. My bouquet was a single pink Oriental lily surrounded by pink roses. The bridesmaids had a petite bunch of long stemmed pink roses. For our table settings we had giant martini glasses each with a huge single Oriental lily."

Highlight of the wedding: "There were so many highlights, seeing our one-and-a-half-year-old daughter run down the aisle to find her daddy, seeing David's face as I walked toward him and spending the day surrounded by so many amazing people, but the moment I'll treasure most is the first dance David and I had with our two little girls, their faces were full of happiness as we all danced together for the first time as an 'official' family!"

Was there any drama? "No drama on the day, and the lead up was pretty perfect apart from the fact the wrong colour lillies came a few days before the day, but my aunty was amazing and kept me calm as she was determined to find me the right ones, luckily the right ones did come in time."

The honeymoon: "We are off to Tahiti at the end of January to spend some time alone and to relax and just enjoy being married!"

Your photographer and favourite photo? "We are so so lucky to have an amazing photographer in the family, Krystal Cate and Yvonne Tunnicliffe from EVE Photography did a super amazing job capturing our day. It was so nice having people we knew and were relaxed around. They were both so easygoing and perfectly captured everything that our day was in all their photos: relaxed and full of love!"
