Weddings of the week
Candice & Andrew Kopic from Hamilton met through mutual friends and got engaged on the beach on Christmas day (how awesome and quintessentially Kiwi is that?).
Their romantic big day was classical but not stuffy - and their wedding cake may just be the prettiest we've ever seen.
How did you meet? We met five-and-a-half years ago through mutual friends, we were friends for a few months first and after spending a lot of time together we both realised there was more than friendship and so started dating.
Tell us about the proposal: It was Christmas 2011 and we went to Hahei with my family. On Christmas morning we all opened our presents and then Andrew said he wanted to go kayaking and that we should go check how rough the sea was, we walked down to the beach and walked down one set of stairs to a little deck area. Andrew then got down on one knee and popped the question with an amazing ring. Hands down the best Christmas ever!
Location of wedding: We had our wedding at the Woodlands Historic Estate [in Hamilton], it has gorgeous gardens and a homestead.
Describe your wedding day: Our wedding day was filled with so much laughter and fun. We have amazing friends and family, and having them all there really made the day so great.
The dress: My dress was Essence of Australia, and I got it through Bride's Corner in Manukau. It was stunning. I went in there with a totally different idea of what I wanted, but the lovely ladies at Bride's Corner brought this dress out and urged me to try it on as it was new in the country, it was love at first sight. I definitely felt like a princess in it.
The flowers: Our flowers were from Wedding Flowers by Karen, she was great! Every arrangement was done with such elegance and finished off the whole wedding beautifully.
Highlight of the wedding: Seeing Andrew's face when I walked down the aisle, something I will never forget. The whole wedding day was like one huge highlight for us both, it all went so smoothly and was just such a happy fun-filled day.
Was there any drama? Nope, it all ran so smoothly.
The honeymoon: We flew out to Rarotonga a couple of days after the wedding and stayed at the Crown Beach Resort in a Pool Suite. We had the best and most relaxing time unwinding together.
Your photographer and favourite photo? Our photographer was Mike Hill Photography, couldn't have asked for a better guy!
