Stuff's wedding of the week: Larissa and Ryan
A proposal in Queenstown, a destination wedding in Swannanoa and an epic round-the-world honeymoon - Larissa and Ryan tied the knot in the most memorable way.
But we'll let Larissa tell you all about it...
How did you meet? Ryan and I both attended Burnside High School in Christchurch but we didn't properly meet until four years after we had finished high school. We were both down at the local pub having a drink and Ryan had enough courage to come over with two of his friends and buy us a drink.
Tell us about the proposal: It was the most amazing weekend away. Ryan had organised the whole thing (I knew nothing apart from the destination). We travelled down from Christchurch to Queenstown during a sunny winter's weekend in September 2015.
The proposal came as we were going up the gondola. I was looking at the stunning views, then turned around to see Ryan on one knee. Once I had the beautiful ring on my finger, we arrived at the top and he had organised a special celebratory lunch at the top.
Location of wedding: We got married at Darjon Vineyard in Swannanoa, North Canterbury. It was a beautiful rustic wedding venue, with a stunning garden to have our ceremony. We could have the ceremony and reception all in one spot, which made it easier for our guests.
Describe your wedding day: In one word, perfect. The weather was great - sunny and warm - and all our vendors pulled everything together as planned.
All of our guests had a great time celebrating with us, and it all went off without a hitch. After dinner, there was a brief rainy period, but it ended in the most amazing sunset and rainbow .
The dress: I got my dress from Wilkins Bridal in Christchurch. I chose a lace A-line style dress. It had a nice lace train and I added a mocca coloured belt as a slight point of difference.
The flowers: All of my flowers came from Ilam Florist in Christchurch. I wanted a messy, rustic bouquet mainly with white and coral coloured flowers to match the bridesmaids' dresses. It was exactly what I wanted and complimented our dresses perfectly.
Highlight of the wedding: For me, the ceremony. It was such a privilege to stand up in front of our family and friends and be pronounced husband and wife. I couldn't stop smiling the whole way through.
Was there any drama? Leading up to the wedding, I was nervous about the weather. I really wanted the outdoor garden ceremony and became mildly obsessive with checking the forecast. It turned out to be a stunning day, and all the worry was for nothing.
The honeymoon: Ryan and I hadn't really travelled a lot, so we planned a world trip together. We left three days after the wedding and visited Bangkok, London, Amsterdam, Prague and Paris.
We then flew to the States and hired a car. We drove from San Francisco , down the Californian coast and stayed in some spots along the way. We ended up in Los Angeles for a few days, then begun our journey home to Christchurch. It was such a great month, and we did so much in that time. By the end of it, we were both eager to get home and see our cats and our dog, Chopper.
Your photographer and favourite photo? Our photographer was Tony Stewart from Photoshots. We were so lucky that we went with Tony as all the photos we received are perfect and will become cherished memories over the years to come.
It is hard to chose a particular favourite but there is a nice one of just Ryan and I sharing a moment of laughter in front of Darjon Vineyard which summaries the day in a nutshell.
