Two male television hosts wanting to experience "the worst pain there is" had electrodes strapped to their abdomens to simulate labour pains.

Dennis Storm and Valerio Zeno are shown clutching pillows and yelling in apparent agony during two hours of simulated contractions - much shorter than many real life labours.

Zeno described the experience as torture and wondered if he wanted his wife to go through the same pain.

He and Storm host the show Guinea Pigs where they perform plenty of wild stunts. Once, in 2011, they appeared to eat each other's flesh in front of a live audience.

In 2009, Dr Andrew Rochford underwent a similar experiment for the Australian TV show What’s Good For You. Low-voltage electrodes were attched to his abdominal muscles to contract his muscles and simulate labour pains. The intensity and frequency of the contractions were increased over time.

Rochford managed to get through three and a half hours, by which time the ‘contractions’ were lasting 60 seconds and were two minutes apart.

He said at the time: "Men of the world, you have no idea. Leave it to the women. Forget the whole pain-threshold debate. We have nothing. Women win, men don't. The end. I'm glad that's over."
