Remember the zinc-crazed summer days of old, when cricketers and surf life savers proudly sported white noses? Smearing them with zinc was a highly effective way to prevent sunburn but in everyday life it wasn't so user friendly.
Now there's Invisible Zinc - a recently launched range of sunscreens that provide a physical (not chemical) barrier between the skin and damaging UVA and UVB rays from the sun.
It contains a patented form of zinc oxide that has been milled down so that it is no longer visible. Zinc oxide is natural and provides sun protection without the inclusion of chemical sun-filters.
The range includes a four-hour Water Resistant Sunscreen; Environmental Skin Protector; and Tinted Daywear, $39.99.
Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear is a complete 3-in-1 product - moisturiser, Zinc sunscreen SPF30+ and sheer foundation for everyday high UVA and UVB protection.
The formula is non-sticky and easily absorbs into the skin, while providing a natural tan and protection. It's available in two shades: for light to medium skin tones, and tanned skin tones.
Model Elle Macpherson has endorsed the range.
"If this product was around when I was in my twenties, I wouldn't have the sun damage I have today."
Elle says her beauty routine today is simple: "I brush my teeth, and put on Invisible Zinc."
Invisible Zinc products range from $19.99 to $39.99 and are available from leading health stores and pharmacies.
