Manawatu police are investigating the unexplained death of a middle-aged woman in Bulls.

The woman was discovered this morning at a residential property in Wilson St by a family member who immediately notified emergency services.

Police and forensic examiners are currently at the property and officers are in the process of speaking to those close to the woman.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan said priorities were to determine if there were any suspicious circumstances to the woman's death, and to speak to and support her family.

"A post-mortem will be undertaken and at this stage we are keeping an open mind and treating the woman's death as unexplained," Sheridan said.

No further information about the deceased will be released until she had been formally identified and her family had been notified.

Do you have faith in police solving burglaries?

Yes - there's no faulting their commitment.

Mostly, but they are under-resourced.

Sort of - depends on when and where.

Not really - clearly a low priority for them.

Absolutely not.

Not sure - luckily I've never been burgled.
