Arrest after woman stabbed in Otaki
A woman will appear in court today after allegedly stabbing another woman in the head.
The 22-year-old Otaki woman faces a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after the Saturday night incident.
Constable Callan Nikora said the chain of events leading to the stabbing started at a gathering involving alcohol on Waerenga Rd in Otaki at about 4pm.
An argument between a couple saw the male partner allegedly smash a bathroom window, then windows in two vehicles at the property, using a tyre iron, Nikora said.
A 20-year-old Otaki man was arrested, but the 28-year-old woman he was arguing with went to a property on nearby Temuera St and confronted a group of people, also drinking, he said.
''Another argument has ensued between her and another group, then her and a female began to fight, which has then moved to another address.''
Nikora said the 28 year old was chased to the third property, in Temuera St, by the woman she was fighting.
He said the woman who chased her then allegedly grabbed what police believe is a knife and stabbed the 28 year old in the head.
''She's now in hospital with a knife wound to her head.''
At about 11.30pm police arrested a 22 year old woman, who was to face a charged of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in Levin District Court today.
The 20 year old man was also set to appear in Levin today charged with wilful damage for the Saturday night incident, Nikora said. The status of the victim was not yet available.
