The man accused of killing Whanganui man Whetu Hansen has made a brief appearance in court.
The man appeared in the High Court in Palmerston North this afternoon to face a charge of murdering Hansen.
Defence lawyer Steve Winter applied for name and detail suppression for the accused, which Judge Barbara Morris granted.
The man will appear next month.
As he was remanded in custody, people in the public gallery shouted "Where's our ***king mate" and "send him home".
Hansen was last seen on November 24, and police started a missing persons inquiry on December 2.
That has since become a homicide investigation.
A property in Akers Rd, Linton, has been the focal point of the investigation.
