No arrests in sexual assault case
Police are continuing to speak with a 17-year-old male about an alleged sexual attack that took place in Palmerston North's central city.
The teenager had been interviewed last week about the incident but a police spokesperson said police were continuing to speak with him today.
The teenager was identified after the case was aired on the Police Ten-7 television show, resulting in more than 50 people calling to provide information.
Several other people of interest had been identified on the show, and the police spokesperson said they had all been talked to.
No one has yet been arrested in relation to the attack.
Police said the 23-year-old female victim had become separated from her friend and began walking home from an inner city bar through The Square and onto Main St about 2am on May 11.
At the intersection of George and Main streets, she was approached by a man who she had initially seen riding a mountain bike ahead of her.
The man had started walking with her as she continued along Main St, police said.
At the intersection of Andrew Young and Main streets, the man grabbed her hand and led her to the parking area where police say he assaulted her before leaving the area and walking back to where he had stashed his bike.
Anyone who has information on the incident can contact Detective Johnny Oram on 06 351 3877 or call the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
