Crash driver remanded in custody
The driver of a vehicle that crashed during a police pursuit in Palmerston North has appeared in court.
Jonathon Edward James Moore, 22, was remanded in custody on a charge of dangerous driving causing injury at the Palmerston North District Court today.
Moore was involved in a high-speed police pursuit in the city yesterday that came to an end on Vogel St when the Subaru WRX he was driving and a vehicle containing three women collided.
Two of the women, aged 88 and 60, were badly injured, and a third woman, aged 58, suffered moderate injuries.
One woman has been transferred to Middlemore Hospital in Auckland, while other two remain in Palmerston North Hospital, one in a serious condition in the intensive care unit and the other in the wards.
Moore, who walked away from the crash unscathed, did not enter a plea and will reappear in court later this month.
