Shots fired at Palmerston North home
Police are trying to establish why shots were fired at a house in Palmerston North overnight.
Police were called at about 10pm after a report of shots being fired at a house in Oakley St near Arena Manawatu.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan said this morning that nobody was hurt although it was believed the residents of the house were home at the time.
"We don't know what the motive was - it was nothing obvious," he said.
Inquiries last night led police to believe the weapon involved was a .22 calibre but that would be confirmed during a scene examination today, Sheridan said.
Police also didn't know how many shots were fired, or the exact time of the shooting, but believed it was about 9.20pm.
Sheridan said police wanted to hear from anyone with information about the shooting or who was in the area about that time.
Palmerston North police can be contacted on 351 3600 or information can be given anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
